Fire Resources

Lane Electric is closely monitoring the Bedrock and Lookout fires, which are both burning in our service territory.

McKenzie, Oakridge, and Fall Creek areas are under a Red Flag Warning for extreme wildfire risk from 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, through 11 a.m. on Friday, August 25. Equipment in those areas will be operating in wildfire settings through the duration of the event.

Bedrock and Lookout Outage Q&A

My power went out. Was it a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS)?

No. Lane Electric has not declared a PSPS for either the Bedrock or Lookout fires. The cooperative is operating in wildfire settings (high sensitivity) which means outages are more likely to occur than in normal operations.

Why did I lose power?

When equipment is set to high sensitivity outages are more likely to occur. It is also possible that the wildland firefighters or other emergency responders requested an outage to safely complete their work.

When will my power be restored?

When outages are reported Lane Electric dispatches a serviceman or crew to respond. Crews must patrol all equipment and lines before re-energizing, making restoration times longer than normal. Please know we’re working as quickly and safely as we can.

Will you tell me if I need to evacuate?

No. We will alert you of power outages. Lane County is in charge of evacuation notices. Sign up to receive their alerts here.

If I have to evacuate should I shut off my power?

That is not a requirement. If power equipment needs to be de-energized for the safety of the community or first responders Lane Electric will take that step.

I’m not on social media. How can I stay informed regarding Fire Weather Watches and Red Flag Warnings?

Sign up for alerts from the National Weather Service.

Do you have any other tips on how I can stay prepared?

Absolutely. Check out our wildfire preparedness page.
