Lane Electric Cooperative is a member-owned rural electric distribution cooperative serving nearly 11,000 members. The co-op was incorporated on May 17, 1939 to provide electric service to areas in Lane County that were not being served by other utilities.
Today, Lane Electric’s service territory covers 2,600 square miles from the Cascade Mountains in the east, to Linn County in the north, the Row River valley and Oakridge to the south, and the city of Veneta serves as the cooperative’s western boundary. The cities and towns served include:
- Blue River
- Cottage Grove
- Culp Creek
- Fall Creek
- Pleasant Hill
Lane Electric is governed by a board of directors who live throughout the service area and are elected by the membership to three-year terms. Directors approve strategic plans, general operating policies, rates, and the annual operating budget. Members can engage with cooperative leadership by attending monthly board meetings, yearly district meetings, and voting in elections.
The General Manager sees that board direction and guidelines are implemented through the day-to-day operations of the cooperative.
