In response, Lane Electric set its lines to high sensitivity to ensure safe operation of the system. With lines at higher sensitivity, outages can occur more easily.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s important to remain prepared for summer outages, just as you would for winter.<\/p>\n<p>One way we\u2019re working to help members with planning for fire season is through our <a href=\"https:\/\/laneelectric.com\/wildfireprep\/\">wildfire preparedness page<\/a>. You\u2019ll find tips on everything from how to build an emergency kit to creating defensible space around your home and structures.<\/p>\n<p>Defensible space is an important step members can take to protect homes and property. This buffer between a building on your property and the grass, trees, shrubs or surrounding wildland areas can slow or stop the spread of wildfire.<\/p>\n<p>One question we\u2019ve received from members is how to know if a red flag warning has been issued.
