I’ve completed all of the required education and have been certified as a Credentialed Cooperative Director through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). In addition, my continuing education, attendance at conferences, and participation on a variety of industry related committees has helped prepare me for the challenges facing our co-op.

No stranger to service, Knudsen Obermeyer brings 30 years of volunteering and board experience to the position. She served 12 years on the Oakridge School Board and held the position of Board Chair, coordinated and organized Oakridge’s Mini-Olympics, Outdoor School Program for students and the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Basket effort in Oakridge. During her time with the Forest Service, Knudsen Obermeyer also served as Treasurer for the Forest Service Union.

Teacher, McKenzie Elementary 1977-1990, Special Use Administrator, McKenzie River Ranger District 1990-2004.

Civic & Public Affairs

Started the McKenzie Elementary Outdoor School (1980). Appointed by Governors Goldschmidt and Atiyeh to ODFW’s Salmon Trout Enhancement Board, served as Education Chair both terms. Served on EWEB’s Citizen Review Committee for the re-licensing of the Leaburg & Walterville Hydro Projects representing rate-payers (7+ years). Presented workshops for teachers on water and energy conservation for EWEB’s Southern Willamette Energy Action Team. Elected to McKenzie School District’s Board of Directors, 1998.

Appointed to the Lane County Budget Committee, 2003-4 and 2004-5. Co-founded McKenzie Education Foundation, current member. Completed Ford Family Foundation Leadership and Community Ambassador training programs for the McKenzie Area (McKenzie Area Renewal Committee, MARC 1). Co-created “Canopy Connections” with the U of O Environmental Learning Program and Pacific Tree Climbing Institute to take middle school students 80’ into the old-growth canopy.

Hugh brings to the board 25 years of experience with U. S. West and 15 years of experience with GTECH Corp. He also volunteers for the Cottage Grove Food Bank, the Boys and Girls Club in Salem, and he maintains the grounds and facilities at Our Lady of Perpetual Health Catholic Church in Cottage Grove.

Retired as a State of Oregon Circuit Judge after 18 years active service. Also had 18 years in private law practice, 2 and a half years as a deputy district attorney and one year as a law clerk for a federal judge.
